Armed officers launched a search near Government House this morning, looking for a “person of interest”.

More than a dozen officers — some armed — were seen in the area at around 12.30pm with a row of police vehicles parked in the driveway leading to Government House off Langton Road.

However, the officers had left the area by around 1.30pm.

A Police spokesman said: “The police were actually acting on information that a person of interest was in a house in the area.

“It turned out that the person was not there and they were stood down.”
