Sandys shooting victim given KEMH discharge
A Sandys parish man shot and injured yesterday was treated and discharged from King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
The 25-year-old was shot in his lower extremities in the area of Nine Beaches, Daniel’s Head, in Sandys, at about 2.40am.
“Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses or persons that may have seen any suspicious activity in the Daniel’s Head, Sandys parish area during the early morning hours of Saturday,” a police spokesman said.
Walter Roban, the Shadow Minister of National Security, said: “The announcement of another shooting in the Sandys area brings a heavy heart to all in the Progressive Labour Party. Our thoughts are with the injured, his family and anyone else who has been negatively impacted by this incident in the Sandys community. We call again on the public to support the Bermuda Police Service in the inquiries with this matter in order to bring perpetrators to justice.”
Additionally, area MP Michael Scott has condemned the shooting and expressed his relief that the victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.
