Dunkley, Baron offer support to Four Star
Michael Dunkley, the Premier and Minister of National Security, and Senator Jeff Baron visited Four Star Pizza in Warwick today, to show support in the wake of the Boxing Day armed robbery.
Sen Baron, the Junior Minister of National Security, called for the public to help catch the thief, who stole cash after brandishing a knife in the store at about 6.20pm, before escaping on a motorcycle.
“This afternoon the Premier and I visited Four Star Pizza at the Warwick Workman’s Club to show our support for the staff following Saturday night’s armed robbery. In addition, the Premier has spoken with the owner,” Sen Baron said in a statement.
“I appeal to anyone who might have seen anything suspicious in the area at the time to report it to the Police or to Crime Stoppers at 800-8477. If you see something, then say something.
“Crime, no matter where it occurs, no matter who it hurts or why it happens, is something all right-thinking people condemn and decent governments everywhere work to prevent.
“In that vein, the Bermuda Police Service has our support as it continues every day doing its best for the sake of the community. Its officers are doing a great job.”
Walter Roban, the Shadow Minister of Home Affairs, has previously responded to the incident by claiming such offences could be triggered by economic challenges and police budget cuts. Today, Sen Baron accused Mr Roban of a “shameful political intrusion”.
