Windows were also broken at the neighbouring Vera P. Card store during the incident at 4am yesterday, according to the Bermuda Police Service.
Witnesses or anyone with information is urged to call the Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011. Meanwhile, officers report an upsurge in residential burglaries in the Devonshire and Hamilton Parish areas, particularly Margarita Lane, Poinciana Estate, Palmvale Close in Devonshire and Kitty’s Lane, Abbot’s Cliff and Cottage Hill in Hamilton Parish.
A spokeswoman said: “We are advising the public to secure your property. Lock all windows and doors and secure air-conditioning units.
“Please ensure all valuables are in a safe or safety deposit box as jewellery and electronics have been the main items stolen.”
The spokeswoman added: “Also, we are strongly suggesting that homeowners take pictures of all valuables and record all serial numbers of electronic goods, in the event they are stolen and recovered those goods can be identified.
“We are also asking for the public to keep an eye on individuals that are acting suspiciously in neighbourhoods, as most of the recent burglaries have taken place during the day whilst occupants are at work.”
