A man made a failed attempt to rob a Hamilton food outlet with a suspected gun last night.

The thief brandished what appeared to be a firearm and demanded cash at Four Star Pizza, Angle Street, at about 10.20pm.

However, he left empty-handed and fled the scene with another male suspect who was waiting outside on a motorcycle. Nobody was injured.
