A drunk passenger was arrested after he verbally abused crew and fellow travellers on a plane heading to Bermuda on New Year’s Eve.

The man, 54, acted in a belligerent manner on the British Airways flight from Gatwick Airport, according to police.

He was arrested at LF Wade International Airport at about 7pm and taken to Hamilton Police Station.

A British Airways spokeswoman said: “Our customers and crews deserve to enjoy their flights, and not to suffer any form of abuse.

“This sort of behaviour will not be tolerated, and appropriate action will always be taken.”
