A 29-year-old man who racked up 26 points on his driver’s licence was today banned from the roads for three months.

Joricho Mello, from Pembroke, was also fined a total of $1,800 for four traffic offences.

Mello pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court today to speeding at 75km/h, having no driver’s licence and riding an unlicensed cycle on February 7.

He also admitted riding a cycle without third party insurance in June 2016.

The court heard that Mello already had nine points on his licence.

Duty counsel Arion Mapp argued that magistrate Tyrone Chin had the discretion to only disqualify Mello from riding a motorcycle.

But Mr Chin pointed out that 12 points was the “tipping point” and banned him from driving all vehicles.
