Police are warning about a spate of thefts from parked cars in Hamilton.

Offenders are breaking into vehicles, sometimes by removing window rain guards, and rummaging through belongings, according to officers.

They issued the following advice:

• ensure that you leave your vehicle locked and secured at all times;

• never leave anything of value in your car;

• where possible leave your car in a well lit area;

• ensure window rain guards are secured in your vehicle;

• report any suspicious activity to police.
