Police have warned the public to watch out for scam e-mails that claim to be from two island regulatory authorities.
A police spokesman said that the e-mail addresses were “considered to be highly compromised with malicious URLs which redirect to credential harvesting sites” and that they should not be opened.
The e-mails claimed to be from Beverly Bennett of the Bermuda Tourism Authority at bbennett@bermudatourism.com and Francis Richardson from the Bermuda Shipping and Maritime Authority at frichardson@bermudashipping.bm.
The subject titles were “BERMUDA TOURISM AUTHORITY #BTA16-4-2020” and “Bermuda Shipping & Maritime Authority #BSMA16.04.2020”.
