Motorcyclist thrown 60 feet through air after collision with car

Police block off North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish after a collision between a car and a motorcycle in which the rider was thrown 60 feet in the air.

A motorcycle rider was thrown about 60 feet through the air and suffered life threatening chest injuries after his bike was in collision with a car on Friday evening.

Police said the collision occurred at about 9pm near Bethel AME Church on North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish.

A Police spokesman said it appeared that a car pulled out of the entrance of the church car park and made a right turn onto North Shore Road when it was struck by a motorcycle in the opposite direction, reportedly travelling at a high rate of speed.

The motorcycle rider was thrown about 60 feet into the air before landing on the roadway, the spokesman said.

He is said to have sustained a chest injury which was described as life-threatening and was transported via ambulance to hospital for treatment.

Enquiries into this collision are ongoing.
