22-year-old man treated for stab wound after fight

A 22-year-old man was treated in hospital for a stab wound after a fight on Front Street in the early hours of Saturday.

A police spokesman said: “Shortly after 1am on Saturday, police responded to a report of a fight involving several individuals near the Flagpole on Front Street.

“Upon arrival, persons involved in the fracas fled the scene on motorcycles and foot and were pursued by police officers.”

He said the 22-year-old was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with a stab wound to his lower back. “His injury, which was deemed non-life threatening, was treated and he was later discharged.”

Police have arrested three people in connection with the incident and anyone with information is asked to call 211, the main police number, 295-0011 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers number, 800-8477.
