Police launch inquiry after robbery and sex assault at house

A probe into a burglary and sex assault at knifepoint was yesterday launched by police.

Police responded after the occupants of a house dialled 911 and said they had been held up by two men.

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Nicholas Pedro said: “The Bermuda Police Service has declared this a critical incident.

“We are extremely concerned about this incident and believe someone knows who committed this heinous act.”

Mr Pedro added: “We will work tirelessly to identify the suspects & bring them to justice – but we also need the public’s help.

“We need people to step forward to prevent this from happening again.”

The incident is understood to have happened at a house in Smith’s just after noon.

A police spokesman said: “Of tremendous concern, a sexual assault is alleged to have taken place by the perpetrators.”

He added the raiders were black men, aged in their early 20s.

They were wearing all black clothing and on a motorcycle.

It is believed the two escaped with property from the house.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
