Martin Weekes, the Assistant Police Commissioner, has returned to the island after completing the UK’s top leadership programme with distinction.

Mr Weekes attended the Strategic Command Course offered by the UK’s College of Policing. He graduated with the highest passing grade of distinction.

The full-time 2021 SCC course began in September, combining in-person and virtual coursework.

Darrin Simons, the Acting Commissioner of Police, said that the SCC offered “learning and leadership development at the highest level”.

“The programme is demanding and requires participants to bring their absolute best.

“Both the learning and often lifelong relationships that are developed will pay dividends to the Bermuda Police Service and the wider community for years to come.”

He congratulated Mr Weekes for his “exceptional performance”.

Mr Weekes’ syndicate director on the course said that he had immersed himself from both a social and learning perspective.

“He was instrumental in building the team ethos in the syndicate and brought some fascinating inputs from an overseas perspective which served to enrich the syndicate experience.

“Martin has a wealth of experience in policing which served him well on the course. He committed himself to the huge development opportunity provided and I am confident that the Bermuda Police Service will benefit immensely from this."
