Teenager arrested for alleged drugs offences after traffic stop
A teenage motorcyclist was arrested last night for possession of drugs with intent to supply after he ran a red light.
A police spokesman said officers tried to stop the rider, 17, just before 9.30pm when they spotted the traffic offence at the junction of Burnaby Street and Front Street in Hamilton.
But the rider led police on a brief chase before he was stopped.
Police said there was no damage or injury.
The bike was found to be unlicensed, uninsured and the rider did not have a driver's licence.
He was searched at Hamilton police station and it is alleged that plastic twists and bags containing what was believed to be drugs were found.
Suspected drug paraphernalia was alleged to have been found after a search of the teenager’s home.
The man was arrested and the seized items were sent for analysis.
