Shots fired in Pembroke

Police have responded to an alleged firearms incident on Deepdale Road in Pembroke last night.

According to a police spokesman, residents called authorities at around 7.45pm after hearing gunshots in the area.

The spokesman said: “Upon arrival at the scene, officers recovered a number of spent shells near a private residence on Deepdale Road West.

“There were no reported injuries and checks with King Edward VII Memorial Hospital confirmed that no one had attended the facility seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.”

“Reports are two individuals on a silver-grey motorcycle, were seen leaving the area shortly after the incident.”

“One of them is believed to have been dressed in a grey tracksuit.”

The spokesman added that the road was cordoned off while forensics officers examined the scene, but was re-opened an hour later.

He added: “This is the third such incident in recent times and the Bermuda Police Service urges anyone with information to please call 211, or the main police number on 295 0011 or Crimestoppers on 800 8477.”
