Police raid nets ammunition, suspected drugs and money
Ammunition, suspected cannabis and cash were seized at the weekend, police revealed last night.
A police spokesman said a 31-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the Smith’s incident and was helping police with their inquiries.
Acting Commissioner of Police Darrin Simons said: “This is another significant seizure by our officers as we continue our heightened efforts to address gang and drug activity through the introduction of initiatives such as Operation Sole, Operation Columba as well as Operation Vega, which, although aimed at reducing the incidence of traffic offences has also resulted in the seizure of drugs and weapons.”
Mr Simons thanked members of the public who passed on information to police.
The haul came as officers from the Eastern Community Policing Division carried out inquiries into another case.
Officers from the Eastern Community Policing Division were conducting enquiries in on another matter, when they discovered a quantity of suspected controlled drugs and drug equipment at “a Smiths Parish location”.
Officers from the Tactical Division and Drugs Unit were called in and a search of a vehicle parked nearby led officers to a bag and other personal items.
Officers also seized container which held several rounds of live ammunition.
A quantity of plantlike material believed to be cannabis was also recovered, along with an undisclosed sum of money.
