Police call for Hallowe’en calm
The public have been warned off antisocial behaviour over Hallowe'en, including the throwing of eggs.
Police also called for drivers to take care on the roads with Hallowe'en falling on Monday.
Hallowe'en parties and other events are planned for the weekend, and police called for the public to celebrate responsibly and avoid driving while impaired.
Officers will be monitoring events and patrolling throughout the island.
Drivers can expect extra pedestrians on Monday, with many children in dark-coloured costumes.
Drivers should take care, particularly when travelling through neighbourhoods.
Police appealed to the community to help in preserving safety and security, with older children, parents, friends and family asked to “do their part in keeping their young children close by and safe”.
Anyone walking on main roads with youngsters should wear brightly coloured clothing, carry reflective items and use flashlights after dark.
Children out for Hallowe'en should be accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian.
Police warned that unlawful acts such as throwing projectiles such as eggs would be “dealt with appropriately”.
Parents, shopkeepers and gas station operators were reminded to be wary of purchases of “unusually large quantities of eggs”, particularly by younger people.
Throwing eggs at people or property can lead to damage or injury.
The police wished safe and enjoyable festivities to anyone celebrating Hallowe'en.
