Police investigating ‘violent act’ between two men in primary school grounds
Police are investigating “a violent act’ that took place at a primary school in Pembroke yesterday.
According to the Ministry of Education, two men entered the grounds of Northlands Primary School on Berkeley Road at about 3pm where they “engaged in a violent act”.
Diallo Rabain, the Minister of Education, said he condemned the incident, adding that no children were involved.
Mr Rabain said: “Ensuring that our students, teachers and school zones are kept safe is a paramount priority.
“I wholeheartedly condemn any act of senseless violence, especially on school grounds, which should be safe zones for our children.
“I want to thank the Northland's teachers and parents who ensured that students were kept out of harms way. I'm sure this must have been a very concerning incident for our young ones.
"The emotional wellbeing of our students is foremost on our minds this evening, and the Northland's leadership is communicating with parents to provide a measure of reassurance.
"Lastly, I want to thank the Bermuda Police Service for their swift response to this incident."
A ministry spokeswoman confirmed that police are now investigating the incident.
