Police are investigating a report that an inmate at the Westgate Correctional Facility was aggressive towards an officer, the Department of Corrections confirmed this week.

A spokesman for the Ministry of National Security said that the incident occurred on March 19, while the officer was carrying out their duties.

This comes weeks after a similar event led to an officer being admitted to the hospital.

The spokesman added: “While the officer was not injured [during the latest occurrence], the Department of Corrections takes incidents like these seriously and the matter has been reported to the Bermuda Police Service.”
