Gunshots heard near a Devonshire school yesterday were coming from a shooting range, Darrin Simons, the Commissioner of Police, said.

According to Mr Simons, officers responded to a report of shots heard near Elliot Primary School shortly after 4pm, but there were no signs at the scene that a firearms incident occurred.

He added: “While officers were at the scene, they heard what were believed to be more gunshots to the east of the school.

“Officers suspected the gunshots may have been coming from the nearby trap and skeet shooting range.”

Police then confirmed that the range was active and was where the shots came from.

The Bermuda Police Service thanked the public for quickly bringing the incident to their attention and allowing officers to properly address it.
