Teenager remains in hospital after suffering stab wounds

A teenager remained in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital yesterday with wounds suffered in a “large disturbance” in Sandys, a police spokesman said.

The spokesman said the incident was believed to have occurred at around 12.10am on Saturday on Somerset Road, in the area of Cambridge Road.

Around ten people were understood to have been involved in the incident, with three people suffering suspected stab wounds.

“Initial information indicated that three men, now understood to be a 37-year-old, a 34-year-old and a 19-year-old were injured, treated at hospital and later discharged,” the spokesman said.

“However, it has since been confirmed that only the two older men were discharged from the hospital after medical care.

“At last check the 19-year-old man remained at the hospital, receiving medical treatment for what are understood to be non-life threatening injuries at this time.”

The spokesman added that the investigation into the incident was ongoing and officers were eager to speak with anyone who was in the Cambridge Road area at around 12.10am on Saturday.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Odessa Philip at 717-2193 or ophilip@bps.bm, or call the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744.

Witnesses can also speak to an officer they know or call the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline, 800-8477.
