Police list traffic tickets issued and arrests over Cup Match

Police made 32 arrests over the Cup Match holiday weekend, seven of which were for possession of a bladed article.

Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving — one of them at a road sobriety checkpoint.

One of the drivers was released after passing the Breathalyser test, while the other is expected to appear in court.

Police reported 42 stop and searches on the first day of Cup Match, when 11 traffic tickets were issued, and four people were arrested for drug offences or outstanding warrants or both.

From August 3 to 6, 84 tickets were issued to drivers for various traffic offences.

Police also conducted high-visibility patrols on land and sea.

Marine patrols were carried out in partnership with the Royal Bermuda Regiment Coastguard.

Police thanked the “vast majority” of the community for a safe and responsible holiday.
