Detectives receive training in complex, serious investigations
A two-week programme offered 15 Bermuda Police Service detectives additional training in managing serious and complex investigations.
A BPS spokesman said the officers, who range in rank from constable to inspector, completed the course at the Prospect training facility in Pembroke.
The programme was led by former Greater Manchester Police Detective Sergeants David Keech and Neil Prummell, who have more than 60 years of policing experience between them.
The course is aligned to the United Kingdom College of Policing Authorised Professional Practice and level two of the Professionalising Investigation Programme.
Sherwin Joseph, Acting Detective Superintendent, said: “The PIP level-two programme forms part of the training regimen of the crime division of the Bermuda Police Service.
“It is geared towards professionalisation of investigators, succession planning and building investigative capacity.
“This training will prove invaluable to increasing investigative capacity of the BPS and its ability to solve crime and have perpetrators put before the courts as we continue to work to make Bermuda safer.”
