The following day, he trespassed a property on Sunset Close, Pembroke and stole money.
Also on August 8, Hayward attempted to enter another dwelling on Sunset Close and then trespassed a separate dwelling in the same building and stole money.
In total, he stole $600 in cash as well as a $3 bottle of beer throughout the course if the spree.
The court heard that Hayward has battled with drug addiction which came hand-in-hand with his compulsion to steal.
All five offences were in breach of the Criminal Code Act 1907.
Hayward was served five sentences of three years, two years, three years, six months, and three years to run concurrently, meaning they will all be served at the same time.
Hayward took to the stand to apologise for his actions, saying he is remorseful and willing to get help with his substance use. He asked the court for “a chance to better myself”.
Ms Anderson recommended that he participate in the Right Living House Treatment Facility programme for substance abuse treatment.
