Police make scores of arrests during busy holiday weekend
Police were kept busy during the Remembrance Day holiday weekend, making 27 arrests and issuing more than 80 traffic tickets.
Six motorists were arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired, with four of the suspects failing an alco-analyser test. The two other drivers refused to take the test.
In addition, 12 people were arrested on outstanding warrants, and two others were held for using threatening words.
A further three people were arrested on various drugs charges ‒ importation, possession, and possession with intent to supply.
Police also made four arrests in connection to incidents of suspected burglary, theft, causing wilful damage, and obtaining services by deception.
Of the 84 traffic tickets issued, almost half were for speeding. Other infractions included driving without a driver’s licence, vehicle licence, or insurance. Three motorists were ticketed for driving while disqualified.
In addition, 27 motorist advice notices ‒ official written warnings ‒ were issued.
The arrests were made during “proactive patrols” by the Bermuda Police Service between Friday evening and yesterday.
