A “substantial” amount of suspected crack cocaine was seized by police during a search of a Warwick home this week.

Officers carried out Operation Moonstone on Wednesday and a 40-year-old man was arrested.

The Bermuda Police Service said yesterday: “During the operation led by the tactical operations police support unit, assisted by other units within the BPS, officers executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a Warwick residence.

“During the course of the ensuing search, officers discovered and seized a quantity of US currency, along with a substantial amount of suspected controlled drug crack cocaine.

“A 40-year-old male was arrested in connection with this operation and the investigation into his matter remains ongoing.”

Acting Inspector Khalid Pitcher, of the tactical support unit, added: “This successful seizure effectively disrupted a drug network operating in Bermuda and has contributed to the protection of our community from the harmful impact of illicit drugs.

“The Bermuda Police Service remain committed to fostering a safe and secure environment for all residents.”
