Motorist who led police on a chase arrested
An SUV driver who led police on a chase through two parishes has been arrested, police confirmed.
A statement from the Bermuda Police Service said officers signalled for the motorist, a 39-year-old Devonshire man, to stop shortly before 9am on Wednesday, after he disobeyed a traffic sign and turned from Crow Lane onto Lane Hill.
Despite slowing down for police at first, the man then sped away and led them on a pursuit through parts of Pembroke, Devonshire and the City of Hamilton. Some of this chase can be seen in a video on social media.
The driver eventually stopped in a driveway along Serpentine Road, where he was ticketed and arrested for disqualified driving.
He has been released on police bail and is expected to appear in court in connection with the incident soon. The vehicle involved was impounded and released to its registered owner.
