No word on Bermudian arrested in Bali

The fate of a Bermudian woman arrested while on vacation in South-East Asia more than three weeks ago is still not known.

Andrea Warren and another woman, Chansler Butler, were incarcerated after a dispute over a bill at a nail salon while holidaying on the Indonesian island of Bali.

The pair were arrested on December 16 while trying to catch a flight to Thailand.

The women were paraded before local media and, according to reports, could be jailed for two years for “maltreatment” of salon staff.

The Royal Gazette has been unable to establish whether Ms Warren has been released. Under Indonesian law, suspects questioned by police for minor offences have to be released within 24 hours of arrest, but those facing more serious charges can be held in police custody for up to 60 days.

Britain’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in London, the Government’s Department of Communications, and Government House were contacted today for an update on Ms Warren’s situation.

No responses were received by press time.

Ms Warren, 37, a former CedarBridge Academy student from Devonshire, moved in 2020 to Britain, where she works as a personal trainer.
