Teenager arrested for knife possession after bike chase
A 15-year-old boy was arrested last night on suspicion of knife possession after he was involved in a police chase that ended in a crash.
A police spokesman said that officers were on patrol at Marsh Lane, Pembroke, at about 4.40pm when they saw an auxiliary cycle speeding through the area.
Officers followed the cycle, which carried a pillion passenger, the 15-year-old boy, and watched as it passed the Marsh Lane junction without stopping and continued along North Street.
The rider, another male, eventually lost control of the cycle and slid out before he and the passenger attempted to flee.
Police caught and detained the passenger while the rider successfully escaped on his cycle.
A search of the 15-year-old found a knife on his person.
The teenager was arrested for possession of a bladed article and taken to Hamilton Police Station.
There were no injuries reported during the incident.
Police have urged anyone with information to call the main police number, 295-0011.
