Police appealed for witnesses to a disturbance in Warwick yesterday that was thought to be connected to a firearms incident later in Southampton.

About six men were reportedly involved and two were said to have brandished knives.

A spokesman for the Bermuda Police Service said that the disturbance happened at about 9.55am at the Warwick Pharmacy car park.

He added: “The suspects left the area on motorcycles prior to police arrival.

“This incident is believed to be linked with the shooting which occurred later on the same day on South Avenue, Southampton.”

The spokesman said: “Police are particularly interested in speaking with persons who were in the car park while the incident was in progress.

“We would also like to speak with anyone else who may have witnessed or who may have any information at all on this matter.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Anneka Donawa on 717-2250 or by e-mail at adonawa@bps.bm.

Details can also be shared with another police officer or through the BPS community reporting portal at portal.police.bm.

The BPS confirmed earlier that reports were received of a single gunshot heard at about 4.20pm yesterday in Southampton.

Detectives then sought two suspects who left the scene on a dark motorcycle without a licence plate.

The suspects were last seen travelling east along Middle Road in Warwick.
