Police renew witness appeal for 2017 murder in Sandys
Police today renewed calls for witnesses to the 2017 murder of Jahkobi Smith; who was stabbed fatally after he was involved in an altercation in Sandys.
The Bermuda Police Service said: “We would like to speak with anyone who may have seen something or heard something, particularly if you were at the West End Sailboat Club or in the general vicinity around the time of the incident.”
Mr Smith was stabbed at about 7.15pm on July 29, 2017, during a wake for the late Jahcari Francis.
The BPS said: “Police and EMTs rendered assistance to Mr Smith at the scene; however, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
“On this, the seventh anniversary of his death, the Bermuda Police Service are once again appealing for any witnesses to please come forward to help us solve this crime and bring closure to the family of Mr Smith.”
Detective Inspector Dean Martin added: “There is someone out there who knows the person or persons responsible for Mr Smith’s death.
“We urge you to come forward and speak with us.
“You have the option of remaining anonymous by using the Crime Stoppers number or speaking to an officer you may know.”
He said: “Remember, with the assistance of the public, we have been able to solve a number of recent serious crimes or have been provided information which has allowed us to make significant progress with investigations into historical crimes.”
Anyone who may know the movements of Mr Smith before the incident was urged to call Mr Martin on 717-2074 or 247-1739.
Witnesses can also provide information to the police anonymously through the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda number, 800-8477, or share information with a police officer they know.
