Minibus driver caught after fleeing police

A minibus driver has been detained by police after being stopped by officers in Southampton before attempting to run away.

The incident, which took place this morning, was documented in posts on social media by passengers who were transferred to another minibus.

A spokesman for the Bermuda Police Service said: “Around 8.50 this morning, police officers had cause to stop the driver of a minibus on Middle Road, Southampton.

“Upon bringing the vehicle to a halt, the driver, a male, ran off but was subsequently apprehended and detained.

“The vehicle was seized and the occupants transferred to another minibus and transported to their destination.”

One passenger wrote on Facebook: “So, our bus driver got pulled over by the police on our way to the beach. He ran away from the cops down the road. We are waiting for another bus to pick us up.”
