A second suspect was taken into custody in connection with a gunshot exchange with police which occurred in the Khyber Pass area of Warwick on August 24.

A police spokesman said the man was arrested around 1pm yesterday during an operation.

The spokesman said during the operation, a Southampton residence was also searched by police officers and several items were seized.

Yesterday, an 18-year-old man who was arrested over the weekend in connection with the incident, was charged with shooting at the police.

Last evening, Detective Superintendent Sherwin Joseph, the Senior Investigating Officer of the Operation Athelstan, said the “continued support” from the community has been crucial to the investigation.

He appealed to people living in the areas of Random Lane, Lusher Hill, Spice Hill, Pearman’s Hill, Camp Hill, Horseshoe Road, Scenic Heights, South Avenue and Riviera Road, to contact the police, should they recall any suspicious activity which took place between 10pm on August 23 and 4am on August 24.

“Please check your CCTV cameras for anyone who seemed out of place, whether walking, or on a motorcycle within that time frame,” he said. “No matter how insignificant you may believe this sighting to be, please contact us.”

Contact can be made with Mr Joseph on 1-441-717-2158 or at jsherwin@bps.bm.
