Two teenagers were arrested at Hamilton Bus Terminal after police attended a complaint of disorderly behaviour yesterday.

A police spokesman said that uniformed officers were on patrol in the area at about 4.35pm when a bus operator requested their assistance to remove an unruly 14-year-old boy from the vehicle.

As officers took the passenger off the bus, he struck and damaged its side-view mirror.

Police arrested him for wilful damage.

An 18-year-old man later attempted to intervene and was arrested for threatening behaviour and obstruction.

Both were taken to Hamilton Police Station, where they were processed and bailed.

The incident was filmed with a camera phone and footage has been circulated on social media.

One of the youngsters involved in the incident was wearing a CedarBridge Academy uniform.

The Ministry of Education and the CedarBridge Academy Board said that they were aware of the incident.

An education ministry spokeswoman added: “This matter is being handled by the appropriate authorities.

“CBA will assist if required, ensuring the matter is addressed appropriately.

“As a school, the focus remains steadfast on fostering a safe, supportive environment that prioritises the students' growth, wellbeing and future success.

“Students are advised not to gather in the City of Hamilton after school hours and parents are encouraged to have a clear plan in place for their child after school.”
