Two men in hospital after Warwick shooting

Two men are in hospital after a firearms incident in Warwick last night, police have confirmed.

Chief Inspector Scott Devine said that officers were called to the St Mary’s Road area of Cedar Hill at about 9pm.

Upon arrival, officers found two males who had suffered gunshot wounds.

It is understood that the shooting took place at a residence, although police could not confirm how many people were there at the time.

Both men were treated at the scene before being taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Mr Devine said it was too early to determine the extent of the men’s injuries, but added that the injuries would be considered life-threatening until told otherwise.

He added: “We treat all firearm incidents with severe gravity.

“These are incidents that impact not only the victims but the entire community.

“This will be treated as seriously as any other firearms incident we’ve had to deal with in recent years.

“That’s why we encourage the public to give us as much information as they can and work with us to bring these people to justice.”

An investigation into the incident is under way.

Anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident has been urged to contact Acting Detective Chief Inspector Nidol Barker at 717-2176 or by e-mailing nbarker@bps.bm.

Those with information can also call the main police number, 295-0011, or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline, 800-8477.

Information can be shared with a trusted police officer or through the police community reporting portal.
