Police thank public after would-be robber thwarted
A 58-year-old man is in custody after the public intervened during an attempted robbery yesterday in Warwick.
Police said the man tried to steal a handbag from an elderly female visitor at about 2.40pm on South Road near the junction with Ocean Sands Road.
A spokesman said people nearby came to the woman’s aid and detained the suspect until officers arrived, when he was arrested.
