Glasford tops in time trial
Darren Glasford won the Harrington Sound time trial on Sunday by 27 seconds over his nearest rival.The Bermuda Bicycle Association event, sponsored by Team Madison, saw each category apart from the junior division complete two laps of the course, totalling close to 15 miles.The Winners Edge rider broke the tape in 35 minutes, 52 seconds, followed by team-mate Mark Hatherly who clocked 36 minutes, 19 seconds.Richard O’Connell (36:19) rounded out the podium places.Justin Ferreira set a new junior male 15 to 16 record on his way to fourth place in the overall men’s division, finishing in a time of 36 minutes, 49 seconds, while Nathanial Hartwig (39:34) and Shomari Steede (44:10) came second and third respectively.Marcelino Ferreira (37:23) won the veteran men’s class, beating out Mark Lombardi (37:38) and Glen Franklin (37:58) to the line.Female open winner was Nicole Mitchell who completed the course in 38 minutes, 26 seconds to finish tenth overall, while Zonique Williams (42:55) finished second and Gabriella Arnold (46:03) third.The female veteran division was won by Heather Roque (42:42), with Andrea Proctor (46:43) and Penelope Butterfield (46:49) coming second and third respectively.In the junior 13 to 14 male category, Christian Oatley (45:43) was tops, while Victoria Davis (48:53) took line honours in the junior female 13 to 14 age group.Nahje Smith (23:45) won the junior male 11 to 12 category, with Z’Dao Dill (27:38) claiming first place in the ten and under male division.The junior cyclists rode one lap of the course, totalling 7.5 miles.
