Lawrence first in time trial
Shannon Lawrence won the 2013 Bank of Bermuda Foundation Time Trial Championships at Southside on Sunday to add to his already booming collection of titles.In perfect conditions, Lawrence covered the 19.5 mile circuit in 43 minutes, 56.689 seconds, more than one minute ahead of second-placed Neil de st Croix (45:34.397) who won the Masters division.Mark Hatherley (46:17.516) rounded out the podium positions, while last year’s champion Dominique Mayho (46:32.515) finished fourth.Defending women's champion Nicole Mitchel, won again as she finished the 16.25 mile course in a time of 41 minutes, 6.495 seconds, just nine seconds ahead of Karen Bordage who won the Masters women’s division.Martina Olcheski-Bell took finish third with Zoenique Williams and Wenda Roberts rounding out the top five.A new Junior Male Champion was crowned as Justin Ferreira (31:22.714) broke the tape first, over one minute ahead of second-placed Deshi Smith. Nate Hartwig was third and Nico Barclay fourth.All four are heading to Aruba next month to represent Bermuda in the Junior Caribbean Cycling Championships.Gabriella Arnold (37:07.598) comfortably retained her Junior Women’s title, with Kamryn Minors second, Alyssa Rowse third and Victoria Davis fourth.A number of races were also held for younger riders.The male and female ten and under divisions were won by Nicholas Pilgrim and Megan Hands, respectively.Older brother Alex Pilgrim won the male 11 to 12 division, with Julianne Oatley triumphing in the women’s race in the same age group.In the 13 to 14 age group, Matthew Oliveira beat out Christian Oatley. Rebecca Harrison took the girls’ honours.
