Lombardi wins East End race
Tokio Millenium made it a clean sweep in the Bermuda Bicycle Association (BBA) Open ‘A’ Class division last weekend in the East End.With racing going through St Georges and St David’s, 70 riders competing in seven categories took to the course for top honours. Mark Lombardi claimed line honours in the Open class over the 69.5 kilometre, with Johan Vivier and Matthew Ackland rounded out the sweep of podium places.In the Adult ‘B’ class, Matthew Claridge hit the line in the 53.5km race first, followed by Barry Murphy who was only .014 seconds behind the winner, while Luis Martin was third.Terry Thomas won the 30.5km Adult ‘C’ class ahead of Alex Godfrey and Ian Henderson who came second and third. In the Women’s category, Wenda Roberts was first to the tape, while Earlena Ingham grabbed second and Andrea Proctor was third.Tyler Smith beat Zion Dowling and Dylan Hill in the Junior A division, while the Junior B class went to Nahje Smith ahead of Malik Joel and Senoj Mitchell.In the youngest class, the Junior C category, Eusebio King-Mills won the race, with Alexander Miller and Mailik Smith coming second and third.BBA president Peter Dunne said: “A special thanks to the entire community of St George’s for their understanding, Fast Forward Freight and Kaisa Construction for providing extra volunteers as road marshals.”
