Junior mountain bikers begin new series
The junior mountain bike season gets underway tomorrow at the Arboretum with the first of seven races.
Sponsored by Tokio Millennium Re and Bicycle Works, the free series aims to introduce primary schoolchildren to cycling “as way to promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyles,” said the organisers.
A new feature of this year’s events will be an advanced course for older children or those who feel they are ready for a different challenge.
Children are free to use any kind of bicycle with the emphasis on fun rather than competition.
Every child who participates will receive a goody bag upon registering for the first time.
At the end of seven-race series, one child’s name will be drawn as the grand prize winner to take home a bicycle from Bicycle Works.
The series starts tomorrow and will conclude on January 25.
