Four of the island’s top young cyclist will be competing in the prestigious Green Mountain Stage Race in Vermont starting tomorrow.

Kaden Hopkins, Conor White, Nicholas Narraway and Alexander Miller will tackle four demanding stages with Hopkins contesting the pro one category, White category two, and both Narraway and Miller the top junior category.

Hopkins has competed twice before as a junior, but it will be the first time for the other three, with all four riders showing top form this season with plenty of competitive miles in their legs.

Hopkins competed in the seven-day Vuelta Independencia Stage race in Dominican Republic in March, as well as the San Dimas Stage Race in California and the John T Race in Anguilla alongside White, who finished an impressive second overall.

Narraway and Miller were both medal winners in the recent Junior Caribbean Championships in Guyana, with Narraway also racing the Junior Tour of Ireland last month and all four riders have been a major force in local cycling this year.

Tomorrow, all four will contest the same challenging 5.7-mile time-trial, which includes more than half of the course uphill.

On Friday, Narraway and Miller complete a 74-mile circuit race with Hopkins and Whites categories both contesting a 111-mile event.

Saturday will likely be the biggest challenge with a mountain top finish after the juniors complete 65 miles and both Hopkins and White a gruelling 103 miles.

The final stage on Monday is a downtown criterium in Burlington.

Warwick Academy student Miller returns to Bermuda on Tuesday, while Hopkins continues to Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, White to Brock University in Ontario and Narraway to Miller School of Albemarle in Virginia to continue their studies.
