Conor White was at his dominant best as he sealed a comfortable victory in the Bermuda Roulers Cycle Club Criterium on Front Street on Sunday.

Building on his win in the Bicycle Works Road Race at the beginning of the month, White again proved far too strong for his rivals in the Open Class, finishing an entire lap ahead of the field in 40min 54sec.

Steven Smith settled for second, crossing the line slightly more than two minutes adrift of White, with Steven Millington completing the podium places a further three seconds behind.

It proved a forgettable day for a number of notable riders in the class, with Dominique Mayho suffering a crash on a warm-up lap, ending his race before it had even started, while Jamie Cousins was forced to pull out after suffering technical issues on the first lap.

White was enjoying an ideal preparation ahead of the Caribbean Road Championships in the Dominican Republic at the weekend, in which he will compete in both the elite men's Time Trial and Road Race.

"It was a tough course but I rode hard from the beginning hoping I'd get away from everyone and thankfully I did," White said.

"I'm feeling good at the moment and my form seems pretty good at the moment ahead of Caribbean Championships. I'll be trying to take it a little bit easier this week and then I should be ready to go."

The Citizen class was far closer with an intriguing battle developing between Jamie Bedford, Jackson Langley and Jake Smith in the early laps.

But disaster struck for Langley and Smith, with the former skidding out midway through to halt his charge, before the latter suffered the same fate on the penultimate lap, curtailing any chance of a highly-anticipated sprint finish between him and Bedford.

To his credit Smith re-joined the race, but his hopes of victory had gone as he settled for a valiant third-place finish. Bedford took the flag in a winning time of 34:21, with Christopher Hands also capitalising on Smith's misfortune to finish second, 20 seconds adrift of Bedford.

Charlotte Millington claimed victory in the women's class, narrowly beating her only competitor Anabelle Miller in a winning time of 35:29. Jens Drea came out on top in the Junior 12 and under class, finishing in 24:37, slightly less than 90 seconds ahead of nearest rival Sanchez Smith, with Kelise Wade completing the podium places a further five seconds behind.
