Kavin Smith out to extend mountain bike series advantage
Kavin Smith will be out to cement his position at the top of the standings as the One Communications Mountain Bike Race Series returns on Sunday.
Smith made it back-to-back wins last week a close-fought victory in the third leg at Lagoon Park, Sandys, to open up an eight-point advantage over Alan Potts in the Open 60 Minute category, heading into the fourth round at Coney Island in St George's Parish.
Potts in turn holds an 11-point advantage over Hans Hirschi, with James Holloway a further point behind.
Jennifer Wilson leads the way in the Female Open 60 Minute category, holding a nine-point lead over nearest rival Ashley Robinson, with Jennifer Lightbourne a further 22 points adrift in third place.
The Male Open 30 Minute category standings remain tightly contested with just five points separating the top two riders, with Daniel Ringer leading on 70 points, ahead of Dominic Smith. Justin Horsfall finds himself a further seven points behind in third place.
The corresponding female division sees Florence Pedro and Rebecca May share the lead in the three-rider standings on 67 points, 20 ahead of Zina Jones who will be aiming to cut the deficit to her rivals.
The Male Novice category is also hotly contested with Mark Anthony Domingo topping the standings on 25 points, just three ahead of Chris Fosker, who is a further two ahead of Daniel Heinlein and Rui Moniz.
It is even closer in the Female Novice category with both Sharon Hammond, Kim Raymond and Sarah Ryan all tied on 25 points.
