Jackson Langley claims first victory of MTB Series
Jackson Langley earnt his first success of this season with victory in the third race of the One Communications MTB Series at Hog Bay Park on Sunday.
Langley, who finished third in the opening two races of the series, finally came out on top in the Male Open 60 division, completing 13 laps in a time of 1hr 4min 56sec.
Kavin Smith finished a lap down on the race winner in a time of 1:01:41, with Alan Potts rounding out the podium places with a total of 11 laps in 1:00:04.
All three riders completed a total of eight laps in the Female Open 60 Minute division, but it was Wendy-Ann Thomas who was victorious in 1:03:12, ahead of Jennifer Wilson (1:03:36) and Charlotte Millington (1:06:02).
In the Male Open 30 Minute Division, Sherman Darrell proved the rider to beat, managing five laps in a time of 39:10 to clinch victory. George Pettee was a lap down in 30:39, as was third-placed rider Holger Eiselt (31:06).
The top two riders both managed to complete six laps in the Male Novice Division, but it was Karem Johnson who sealed victory in 31:15 ahead of Mark Richardson 31:44. Third-placed Alexander Roque managed three laps in 31:05.
Arlene MacGuinness managed six laps in 32:26 to prove victorious in the corresponding female division, ahead of Olivia Bishop (31:29) and Caroline Roque (32:11), who were both a lap down on the race winner.
Joshua Wilson took top spot in the Male 13-16 Division, completing seven laps in 30:25, narrowly ahead of Jens Drea (30:59) and Ray Richardson (31:55).
In the corresponding female division Skye Ferguson (33:00) and Kelise Wade (33:47) completed seven laps.
Cruz Butterfield was the top performer in the Male 9-12 Division, managing five laps in 24:07, one more than both Hannes Swart (21:26) and Jonah MacGuiness (21:56).
The top three riders in the Female 9-12 Division all completed four laps in the allotted time, but it was Naomi MacGuiness who took the honours in 22:38, ahead of Romy Drea (25:50) and Ruby Cook (25:54).
The event also included the first downhill race of the series, with Michael Terceira coming out on top in a winning time of 1min 3sec, ahead of Gordon Smith (01:06) and Craig Ferguson (01:08).
