BBA to host information session for aspiring cyclists
The Bermuda Bicycle Association is hosting an information session on the programmes available to aspiring cyclists aged 13-18 on Tuesday, January 9 at the Police Recreation Club, Prospect.
The seminar, which starts at 5.30pm, will outline the BBA’s youth activities, local racing and the pathway to international representation. The meeting is open to anyone interested in pursing competitive cycling activities, regardless of experience.
The BBA has run sessions for high school students for more than a decade and has recently introduced activities for children aged 13 to 14 with a focus on developing bike handling skills and basic endurance, while the older group follows a structured training plan aiding development in road cycling competition.
These initiatives are run at no cost to the participants and, where the resources are available, equipment and gear is loaned to participants, with the elimination of financial barriers to entry key for the BBA as it allows all young athletes interested in the sport to give it a try.
The event on Tuesday will detail the programmes, expectations of athletes, and the BBA’s plan for long-term athlete development.
Although not required, anybody interested in joining the session can advise the BBA of their interest by e-mailing info@bermudabicycle.org.
