Nicholas Narraway showcased his cycling talent at the USA National Collegiate Road Championships held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, last weekend.

Representing Fort Lewis College, Narraway performed superbly across various events, making a significant impact on the overall success of Fort Lewis.

In the team time trial event on Friday at Atrisco Vista Boulevard, Narraway, alongside varsity teammates Beckett Ledger, Adrian Magun, and Ian Williams, powered their way to second place, narrowly missing out on the top spot to Marian University.

“It was a great three days of racing and our teamwork really showed” said Nic Narraway.

“The team trial was really good, we know where we could have improved, but overall we were pleased”.

A day later Narraway formed part of the team that dominated the East Mountain Road Race. Helping teammate Luca Haines to victory in the Collegiate National Championship, Narraway finished an impressive seventh, just 13 seconds behind the winner. Six riders from Fort Lewis were among the top 20 finishere.

“The road race really showcased our talents as a collegiate team,” Narraway said.

“Every one of our riders played a significant part in driving and controlling the race, right to the finish where Kellen Caldwell and I were able to get Luca Haines to the finish sprint and he pulled off the win. It was a great ride for all of us.”

Narraway's outstanding performances in the first two races put him in the lead for the Individual Omnium going into the final event on Sunday, but he could finish only twentieth, two minutes behind the winner.

"The criterium was tough, it was blowing a gale and I am not a big rider so had to fight hard against the wind,” Narraway said.

“In the end it just wasn’t my day, but as a team we had great finishes in the crit, with Kellen Caldwell coming second and Ian Williams fifth”.

Narraway's performances earned him a commendable sixth-place finish in the varsity men's category after the three races as he continues to progress up the cycling ladder.

He has now returned to Durango to continue his studies but will next be in action in the Gran Premio New York City on May 19 before heading out to Brazil to represent Bermuda in the Pan American Championships from May 21 to 24.
