Kaden Hopkins wins green jersey at Tour of Guadeloupe
Cyclist Kaden Hopkins has produced the biggest performance of his career to win the green jersey at the Tour of Guadeloupe.
Hopkins, who held the jersey for the leading points scorer on the tour going into the final stage, crowned his achievement in some style by winning the final stage in a breathtaking sprint finish.
The win marks the first time that Hopkins, who also won stage three, has finished top of the standings in any major tour and he revealed his delight in an emotional interview just minutes after crossing the line.
“I said at the beginning of the week that this is my favourite race,” Hopkins said.
“It feels like a race at home. I’m from the Caribbean myself so when I’m here the culture feels so much like home and I would love to come back again.
“At the beginning of the week the main objective was to win stages here, so for the team to win four and then two jerseys as well is the cherry on top.
“It was an amazing week for us in Guadeloupe with all the fans, all the spectators and just great racing every day.”
