A motorcyclist was taken to hospital today after a crash in Warwick.

The incident happened at the junction of Middle Road and Ten Pin Crescent.

The Bermuda Police Service believed that the 30-year-old man was riding east along Middle Road when he lost control of the bike and hit the pole of a pedestrian crossing signal.

A BPS spokesman said police and other first responders arrived at the scene at about 1.25pm and found the rider lying on the road unresponsive but breathing.

He added that EMTs attended to the man and he was taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The spokesman said the extent of the man’s injuries was unknown.

He added: “The roadway was closed to vehicular traffic while the scene was forensically processed, with eastbound traffic diverted along Ten Pin Crescent while westbound traffic was diverted along Khyber Pass.”

It was confirmed by police at about 4pm that the road was reopened.

Investigations into the accident were under way and anyone with information was asked to call police on 295-011 or 211.
