Three expelled after CedarBridge fight
Three CedarBridge Academy students were withdrawn from the school yesterday after a fight injured two staff members, who attempted to intervene.According to principal Kalmar Richards, a fight erupted near the end of lunch period yesterday between two male students, with other male students soon becoming involved.Two male staff members were reportedly injured in the struggle to stop the fight, and were advised to report to the hospital. The students were expelled in accordance with the Code of Conduct. A police spokesman said that the fight was not reported to Police, and therefor no officers were dispatched to the incident.Principal Kalmar Richards said: “Students who were involved in this incident have been issued consequences as per the CedarBridge Academy Code of Conduct."As a result of the disciplinary measures, three students were immediately withdrawn from the school and will no longer attend CedarBridge Academy.“One returned to school at the end of the day, and the other was about to be released when we checked on his condition,” said the principal.CedarBridge Board chairman Larry Mussenden yesterday thanked the school staff for taking immediate action, and expressed concern for those who were injured, reminding parents and pupils that the school has a strict stance on fighting, and such offences could result in expulsion.“We believe that for situation such as this, we must act swiftly and issue the maximum consequences to students. The safety and well being of our students and staff continues to be of paramount priority,” he said.
