Guidebook directs students towards a sustainable Bermuda
Students will be called upon to imagine a sustainable future for Bermuda, in a new guidebook unveiled by Government.Announcing the completion of ‘Sustaining Bermuda’, Environment Minister Walter Roban said the book owed its “youth appeal” to the team of summer interns who put it together.Mr Roban said the book would challenge students to work together on choices that “sustain our communities while respecting our environmental limits, protecting our natural heritage and doing so within a strong and inclusive economy”.The first draft of the guide will be available for download off the Government website. It covers sustainability topics such as waste management, energy, water conservation, heritage, tourism, economic equality and staying drug free.Education Minister Dame Jennifer Smith said the guide would help in the raising of “thoughtful and reflective citizens”.“It infuses drama, art, poetry, dance and storytelling and helps students to reflect on real life and concrete examples related to our built environment and Bermuda’s economy,” she said.Useful websites: www.gov.bm
